BoBar
Situated in Glasgow's cosmopolitan West End, Bobar is actually part of the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor – only a stone’s throw away from Byres Road – so it’s the perfect shopping day lunch spot. Its slick and stylish interior is classy but not the least bit intimidating, thanks to the team of friendly staff that are on hand to help as soon as you arrive.
The menu is simple, unpretentious fare with the focus firmly on flavour but attention to detail makes each course a delight to savour – the baked camembert that we shared as our starter came with delicious homemade onion and ginger chutney and fruit spiced soda bread. With amazing flavours and such a large portion, it left me wondering how on earth I was going to manage my rib-eye steak I’d ordered for my main course.
Luckily, the steak was done to perfection and here’s one tip for when you visit: whatever you order, even if it’s only a vodka martini, make sure you have a portion of their hand-cut chips. Seriously, they’re to die for.
Unable to resist the lure of the cocktail menu, I decided to settle for a taste of my friend’s sticky toffee pudding, (homemade, not too sweet and delicious), and opted for an alcoholic dessert by way of a ‘Neapolitan’ cocktail. A huge range of cocktails are available – everything from old classics like the Hemingway Daiquiri to fun and fruity Pina Coladas, and with a new cocktail menu due any day now, it seems I’ll need to make another trip to do some important journalistic research…
Overall, I’d definitely make a return trip – fab location, good service, well-priced, delicious menu and hair straighteners in the ladies’. What more could a girl ask for?
