Soul Biscuits
Gain a little knowledge
| 16 May 2006
On May 5th Soul Biscuits returns with an evening of Hip-Hop history and a Wu-tang tribute special rolled into one. It's a history lesson you won't fall asleep in as the crew treat you to a multi-media backdrop about one of the most influential groups of hip-hop today. A DVD telling the story of the Wu-tang's early years will be followed by two rooms of music: the main will feature support from DJs Nasty P (K.F.M Records), Gino (Motherfunk), and Sumone of Surface Emp. Expect to hear some aural delights from Raekwon, Gza, Method Man and Old Dirty Bastard. Also playing live is Glasgow/Edinburgh duo Surface Emp made up of MC Sum, who won The 8 Mile contest on BBC Radio 1, and producer DJ Itchy who is the ITF Scottish champion. You may have already caught them playing with Roots Manuva and Skinnyman, but May 5th will be your chance to hear them perform live material from their new album 'Lucky Me'. For a bit of an allrounder DJ Babes (Snatch) and DJ Cunnie will be playing out a mix of a little bit of everything in room two. For £5 it's a bit of a bargain so head down at 10.30pm to support your local talent at Cabaret Voltaire, and gain a little knowledge to impress all yer homies. [Alex Burden]
