Sammy J and Randy: The Inheritance
What do you need to create a perfectly entertaining, hilarious and original Fringe show? It’s really quite easy: take a classic haunted house storyline and throw in a skinny Australian, a potty-mouthed purple puppet, some fast-paced, clever humour, a handful of brilliantly silly songs and a cameo from George Clooney.
Sammy J and his felt-faced sidekick Randy are filling out a census when Randy finds out his uncle has died and he is the sole inheritor of 20 million pounds, a Porsche and a manor. Sammy J discovers his buddy’s new house is haunted when he encounters a headless ghost who reveals the truth about Randy’s ancestry and his inheritance. Aside from Randy and the ghost, puppeteer Heath McIvor also brings a mean-spirited gnome to life, the centre of an amusing and exciting plot twist!
It’s really difficult/impossible to find something to dislike here. In an hour, the comic duo manage to make a Princess Diana 15th Anniversary Commemorative Oven Glove speak, to kill Elton John and the Sugababes with poisonous mushrooms and provoke waves of laughter with a song about subwoofers, just to name a few of the countless great moments of this show. Not to be missed!
