Fresh Fringe's 24-Hour Challenge!

Preview by Rosamund West | 21 Aug 2012

Starting at 10am on Wednesday 22 August, an intrepid broadcasting duo of Christian Illingworth and Finlay Niven will be hosting a 24 hour radio marathon live from the Pleasance Courtyard, on Fresh Air in aid of Waverley Care, the Edinburgh-based charity supporting those affected by HIV and Hepatitis C. Guests include Michael Winslow, Josie Long, Diane Spencer, Antonio Forcione, and Tim Fitzhigham, plus a few more super-secret ones they'll reveal on the day (gagging orders don't you know). They'll also have live music, hourly challenges and an on-air world record attempt. And the inevitable surreal comedy that will arrive after twelve hours or so, the sound of two men deprived of sleep and forced to make sense on air whilst TWEETING CONSTANTLY.

Outside the studio Fresh Air will be taking on Pure Gym in a 24-hour scavenger hunt. That's right, five students will be challenging five personal trainers to a city-wide contest, running all over the city doing ridiculous challenges, tweeting constantly through @FreshFringe with the team hashtags, and making sure that they reach as many people as possible across the festival city.  If you see them, give them some money or help them with whatever challenge they're trying to do now. Our money's on the personal trainers, BTW.

If you'd like to donate, and you don't happen to bump into any of the scavenger hunters (who will be armed with collection buckets), you can make donations through www.justgiving.com/freshfringe. You could also get yourself some music into the bargain, by purchasing Fresh Air's pay-what-you-wish compilation The Inside Track Vol. 3 available on freshair.bandcamp.com. Proceeds once again go to Waverley Care.
