Helen Arney: Voice Of An Angle

Helen Arney's solo show Voice of an Angle is a warm, witty and charming blend of comedy, music and science. The title is no typo, but a maths pun that sets the scientific tone as she sets out to be perhaps the only stand-up singer songwriter on the Fringe with scientifically verifiable songs and statistically significant laughter.

In the year of CERN's discovery of the Higgs boson, the geeks are coming out of the labs into the limelight. Arney is a great example of this, her fine intelligence turned to producing first class nerdy humour. Her innovative and impeccably timed audio visual projection adds an extra dimension to this perfectly crafted show. By combining her love of science with her monumental musical talent, she delights the audience with her pitch-perfect humour. The audience in turn showed their appreciation of her clever catchy songs. When she made the Fringe's only known attempt to sing a Googol the audience contributed to the chorus with undeniable enthusiasm. They are rewarded with a certificate admitting them to the Choir of Angles, a group certainly more scientific than celestial.

Voice of an Angle is hugely entertaining, clever comedy at its best.
