Nick Page: My Glorious Hypothetical Life As A Eunuch
Fast-talking Nick Page used to be the presenter of Escape To The Country before an interview he gave with the Radio Times allegedly got him sacked by the BBC. It was here that everything started to go downhill...
"I live my life like a dick." Page reiterates at various points and indulges the audience with a number of tales that prove he may be right. His openness is to be admired, however, as he goes into great detail of previous affairs he's had, and the broken relationships that have come as a result. The best piece of material comes from his account of how fraudulent behaviour forced him to endure 200 hours of community service. The subsequent description of attempts to both avoid and gain a prison sentence are a joy to behold. Page shows off his great turn of phrase throughout several anecdotes that leave the audience wondering if he is actually the anti-hero or the dick that he claims to be.
A decent 50 minutes of comedy, let down only by a slight lack of structure and a couple of one liners that fall flat. However, Page's way with words and flair for storytelling more than make up for this.
