The festival's Platform strand, which launched in 2015 with a group show on Blair St featuring work by Antonia Bañados, Ben Callaghan, Ross Hamilton Frew and Jessica Ramm, will return for 2016 to provide a space for new artists in the EAF programme.

Edinburgh Art Festival will provide a production budget, support ahead of and during the festival, and an artist fee to up to five artists who will take part in a group show at this year's festival. Applicants must be based in Scotland and have been living in the country for a minimum of two years, have graduated with a BA in Fine Art or a related subject between two and ten years ago, and not yet be represented by a commercial gallery.

Edinburgh Art Festival is also calling for proposals for one-off pop-up exhibitions and specially-devised events at the 2016 festival from artists, arts organisations and curators. Earlier this week, EAF announced the commissioning of a dramatic overhaul of historic former lighthouse boat MV Fingal by Turner Prize nominee Ciara Phillips as part of the 2016 festival.

Applications for Platform 2016 and for pop-up events at the 2016 Edinburgh Art Festival close on Mon 29 February at 5pm; full application guidelines can be found on the EAF website. The 2016 Edinburgh Art Festival takes place at venues across Edinburgh from 28 July to 28 August.
