Manchester International Festival reveals full 2015 programme
A film and music residency from FKA twigs and a one-off outdoor gig by Björk lead the new additions to the line-up for this year’s Manchester International Festival.
A new project from FKA twigs – titled Soundtrack 7 – will see the singer-songwriter and a host of collaborators produce seven short films over the course of seven days at the Old Granada Studios. The resurgent Björk, who brought her ambitious multimedia Biophilia tour to MIF 2011, will play the first European gig of her Vulnicura dates at Castlefield Arena.
In comedy, Fringe favourite Adam Buxton will premiere new material as part of a trio of comedy events coordinated by The Invisible Dot, with comedian and playwright Tom Basden’s latest play The Crocodile also part of the programme. In art, Glaswegian Turner Prize winner Douglas Gordon collaborates with actress Charlotte Rampling and pianist Hélène Grimaud on inter-disciplinary work Neck of the Woods at HOME.
The newly-announced shows are joined in the programme by the Damon Albarn-scored musical wonder.land, and new ballet Tree of Codes featuring music from Jamie XX.
The MIF lineup as it currently stands is as follows:
Gerhard Richter, Arvo Pärt, Björk, Ed Atkins, FKA twigs, Douglas Gordon, Hélène Grimaud, Charlotte Rampling, Nico Muhly, Paris Opera Ballet, Wayne McGregor, Olafur Eliasson, Jamie xx, Maxine Peake, Antony, Justin Fletcher, Arca, Invisible Dot Ltd, Damon Albarn, Rufus Norris, and Moira Buffini.
