Liverpool Psych Fest adds Pure Phase Ensemble
Liverpool Psych Fest 2016 has announced the first ever UK show for Pure Phase Ensemble, featuring Mark Gardener of Ride.
International music collective Pure Phase Ensemble will make its UK debut at Liverpool Psych Fest this September.
The ensemble convenes annually for SpaceFest in Gdansk, Poland, and in 2015 invited seminal British rock band Ride's Mark Gardener to lead the collective.
The resulting work has since been released as a live record and film – and will now receive its very first live outing in the UK at the yearly festival, which takes place at venues in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle area over the weekend of 23-24 September.
Also added to the Psych Fest bill as part of a second wave of announcements are Heavenly Records' The Wytches, one of our favourite noisy crews Eagulls, recent Brian Jonestown Massacre support act The Veldt and ex-Pipette Gwenno, plus La Luz, Harald Grosskopf, Ulrika Spacek, Yeti Lane, The Early Years and Lorelle Meets the Obsolete.
They join already-announced headliners Super Furry Animals and The Horrors, as well as other bill highlights including cult duo Silver Apples, ambient electronic pair Demdike Stare, Japanese titans Acid Mothers Temple, and Cavern of Anti-Matter, the new outfit from Stereolab's Tim Gane.
