Glasgow Youth Film Festival announces 2015 line-up
The Glasgow Youth Film Festival has revealed details of its new-look programme for 2015, including a fantasy-themed pop-up cinema at the Barras and a clutch of UK and Scottish premieres.
The youth-programmed festival – the only film festival in Europe to be curated from start to finish by teenagers – will play host to the Scottish premiere of sci-fi thriller The Signal starring Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, Event: Horizon), as well as the first UK showing of For No Eyes Only, a modern update on Hitchcock's Rear Window by German director Taliesin Barde. The 2015 programme is aimed squarely at teens and young adults, with most of the child-friendly content that featured in past GYFF programmes added to the Modern Families strand of the main Glasgow Film Festival.
In the festival’s events programme there are masterclasses from Burnistoun star Robert Florence and Sunshine on Leith screenwriter Stephen Greenhorn, the festival’s annual cosplay parade following a showing of Japanese anime Time of Eve, as well as a double bill of Robin Williams caper Jumanji and David Bowie classic Labyrinth in a green-themed pop-up cinema at the Barras Art and Design centre.
The 2015 Glasgow Youth Film Festival takes place from 6-8 February; all screenings are at Glasgow Film Theatre except for the pop-up double bill, which is at BAaD. The main Glasgow Film Festival runs from 18 Feb to 1 Mar 2015 at venues across the city.
