Trof and The Skinny present: Weirds, False Advertising and more

The Skinny and The Deaf Institute have teamed up for a super special gig on 25 September at the Manchester venue.

Hypnotic psych-rockers Weirds, smart DIY outfit False Advertising and thrilling Manchester fuzz-poppers Fruit Bomb will take to The Deaf Institute stage alongside secret special guests to be announced, plus DJs.

We're really excited about the lineup, with four of the most energetic (and loud!) bands in the North right now all on one bill.

There's sure to be a celebratory atmosphere for Manchester's False Advertising, whose gritty and ambitious self-titled debut album will be coming out only a couple of weeks later, on 9 Oct. They're a band who understand that contrast is key, the trio capable of tipping the pendulum between rugged guitar scuzz and irresistably sweet vocal melodies at the turn of a bar.

Manchester's Fruit Bomb, too, will be showing off a new release – Goin' Home, the followup single to this year's excitedly received Normcore Girlfriend, is out on 17 August via Delicious Clam Records. All loose, carefree vox and citrusy jangle, it's the ideal soundtrack to a summer that never really got started; listen to it here.

Last but certainly not least, Leeds' outstanding Weirds will bring the noise, their first clutch of releases having offered up sabre-tooth riffs and acid-sharp grunge. NME had it as “psych music that's as compulsive as it is repulsive,” but we'd swap repulsive for seductive: their debut single, Crocodile, was produced by Hookworms' MJ and has all the bite and urgency you'd expect.
