Albert Hammond Jr, ABC2 27 Nov
He conquered. Let's just hope he can still find time for the band.

A great band I enjoy playing with. They made me the man I am, damn it. The humble response given by Master Hammond Jr to crowd calls for The Strokes. None of the audience, whether owners of his solo album Yours To Keep or Strokes fans keen to see how the boy fares alone, could go home disappointed. The set begins with 'In Transit' and closes with 'Hard to Live in the City'. The former is a beautiful, melodic experience live while the latter finally casts off the flatness that contains it on the record. The best reception is naturally reserved for 'Everyone Gets a Star' and current single '101', which turn into token singalong affairs. He came, he saw, he conquered. Let's just hope he can still find time for the his day job. [Taliska Burgess]
