Juliette Lewis @ Glasgow Garage, 21 Oct

Tonight's one of those nights that's all about the main event - consequently, a support band's worst nightmare. However, despite only managing to turn only a few heads here, the collective and seemingly endless energy of Attack! Attack! makes for an interesting watch nonetheless.

As expected, the crowd erupts as the colourful intricacies of Juliette Lewis' stage gear creep into view. Though already putty in her hands, the now rather excitable Garage audience is warmed up with a sultry rendition of Romeo (from the recently released rulebook shredding Terra Incognita) and subsequently treated to a riotous hour or so of pure show(wo)manship.

From the pulsating disco of Got Love To Kill to the lovelorn blues of Hard Lovin' Woman, tonight's set is one of pure entertainment, as Lewis delivers a flamboyant and engaging performance, strutting her stuff like some long lost love-child of Iggy Pop and Patti Smith. Dressed all in black, in stark contrast to Lewis' eccentric stage presence, new band mates The New Romantiques provide a solid backbone both musically and aesthetically, allowing her swagger and relentless energy - and let's not forget, one hell of a voice - to shine through. An undoubtedly welcome return. [Ryan Drever]
