Drummer Mikey Martin really rips into his skins

Article by Natalie Doyle | 12 Mar 2007
Motherwell's The Aphrodisiacs open the night with their exceptionally chilled out set, followed by Sweden's The Sounds and their own particular brand of New Wave dance punk. All eyes are on lead vocalist Maja Ivarsson as she takes to the stage kitted out in a pair of black hot pants and 80s inspired top. The girl has bags of charisma and a massive ego to boot, admitting during the encore she is "full of it." Tonight you can't help but get the feeling that there are two distinct groups of people (and then some) to see the two main bands of the evening. Once The Sounds have finished and left the stage roughly half the audience joins them. However, the City of Angels' very own Shiny Toy Guns arrive after a rather long sound check and get the whole place moving again. Drummer Mikey Martin really rips into his skins much to the delight of everyone watching, whilst singer/guitarist Gregori Chad Petree and vocalist Carah Faye Charnow captivate the crowd with their dynamic chemistry and intense vocal stylings.
