Fat Goth – Carpe Diem (Track Premiere)

Listen to Carpe Diem from Dundee noise-makers Fat Goth's new album Enorme!

Feature by Music Team | 03 May 2017

Dundee noise-makers Fat Goth are back with their fourth album Enorme! released on 5 May via Hefty Dafty Records. To celebrate the occasion, The Skinny are delighted to be premiering Carpe Diem ahead of the album’s release.

Frontman Fraser Stewart tells us: “I decided to remove myself from my comfort zone and adopted more of an existential approach when it came to providing the lyrical content for our new album, Enorme! Rob Wright from NoMeansNo was a particularly big influence in that respect, so I wanted to try and harness some of that unpretentious, yet utterly compelling quality evident in so much of his observational writing. Whether I was successful in achieving this is another thing entirely…

“Carpe Diem was a reaction to the Tunisia beach attack in 2015 and is a blunt condemnation of all atrocities carried out in the name of organised religion, whether it be a suicide bomber detonating him or herself in the name of Allah, or a pro-life activist picketing abortion clinics and assaulting its patients in the name of Christ. It’s the 21st century, the fact incidents like these continue to occur on a daily basis and on international scale is something I find hilarious and despairing in equal measure.”

Enorme! is released on 5 May via Hefty Dafty Records. Pre-order the album.
