Redolent – Dantercepies (Video Premiere)
Watch the video for Edinburgh four-piece Redolent's new single Dantercepies
Edinburgh-based Redolent are jumping headfirst into 2018 with their Holy Fuck-indebted brand new single, Dantercepies, set for release on 2 February via Aspartame. The four-piece – made up of Robin Herbert (vocals, guitar, keys), Robbie White (bass, keys), Danny Herbert (guitar, keys) and Andrew Turnbull (drums) – have been on the circuit since 2012 but this new single shows a departure from their 2016 album, Juvenility, to a fuller, more mature and electronic sound.
Opening with wheezing synths, Dantercepies swells into a whirl of bleeps, layered over with Robin’s spoken vocals which escalate to fuzzy strained yelps; Redolent are ready for 2018 and we’re ready for Redolent. The Skinny are delighted to be premiering the dimly lit, strobe-fuelled new video for the single, which you can watch in the player above. Warning: the video contains flashing images from the start and throughout.
Of the single, vocalist Robin Herbert tells us: "The song's named after a cable car in Italy and it's about the other-worldly vibes and adrenaline we experience from mountain-based snow sports. We decided to buy a strobe and shot the whole video ourselves one night at our practice room. We’re really proud of it but, ideally, it would have been some kind of super arty footage of us skiing… but we didn’t have the budget!”
