The Sexual Objects – Sometimes (Boards of Canada remix): Video Premiere
Boards of Canada have produced a new remix of The Sexual Objects' Sometimes – watch the premiere of the animated video for the track
On 9 Jun, The Sexual Objects released their Marshmallow LP via Triassic Tusk. Having released a limited run of just 300, it will come as no surprise that the record, led by the former Fire Engines frontman Davy Henderson, would sell out within a week.
“Limiting Marshmallow to just 300 copies seemed in keeping with Davy Henderson’s original idea behind the album (the rights to the album were sold to the highest bidder via an auction),” explains Ziggy Campbell from Triassic Tusk. “We wanted to make an additional record as we knew it would sell out pretty speedily, so we decided to make a remix EP based around our favourite track from the album, Sometimes.
"We were pretty chuffed to bag a remix from Andrew Weatherall but then Davy suggested that Boards of Canada would do one (BoC have worked with The Sexual Objects previously on production duties), and we realised we had the makings of a killer record.”
The Sometimes Remixes EP is released on 29 Jul and to coincide with its release, E’en Anderson – brother of Kenny Anderson, aka King Creosote – has made a lovely video which perfectly captures the feel of the song. “We saw an incredible marionette show by E'en at a Fence event," Campbell tells us. "Being a bit of a polymath, E’en mastered the art in a short space of time, making all his own puppets, even down to their wee clothes. So naturally we invited him to make a video for the track.”
In a lovely treat for a Monday afternoon, we're delighted to be premiering the video. Watch the video by Anderson for Boards of Canada’s remix of Sometimes in the player above; Sometimes Remixes is out on 29 Jul via Triassic Tusk.
