Four Tet shares anti-Trump Muslim ban playlist
The 30-hour long playlist is made up of tracks by artists from nations being persecuted by Trump’s travel ban, including Syria, Somalia and Iran
UK producer Four Tet aka Kieran Hebden has shown his support for the seven nations being excluded from entry to the United States under President Trump’s unjust travel ban by creating a massive, genre-spanning playlist featuring music from those nations.
The full playlist, available over at Four Tet’s Spotify, is epic, running well over 30 hours and featuring more than 330 songs from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Artists featured include Syrian singer Omar Souleyman, Rahim AlHaj from Iraq, Somali singer Hassan Aden Samatar and many more.
On Twitter, Hebden said an impetus for the playlist was that he was thinking about when he recorded with Souleyman in Brooklyn a few years ago, and realised that wouldn’t be possible under this ban.
@FourTet Recording with @OSouleyman in Brooklyn a few years ago and it not being allowed anymore got me thinking about it
