Indigo Velvet – Sunrise: Track Premiere

Sunrise is the latest single from the Edinburgh quartet, who've enjoyed a bumper year with appearances at T in the Park's T Break stage, Tenement TV's Tenement Trail festival in Glasgow and XpoNorth in Inverness alongside slots at Belladrum and Lindisfarne festivals. Darren Barclay, Jason Tucker, Billy McMahon and Laurie Adam embark on a tour of Scotland and the north of England next month – get the full list of Indigo Velvet November tour dates below.

Describing the story behind the new track, vocalist Darren Barclay says: "It was like a fly-on-the-wall situation with the lyrics. The song is more or less about a girl cheating on a guy and I decided to write it from the cheated side which was pretty interesting because I've never been cheated on... not that I know of anyway!

"I just thought about what I'd see out and about in town, and you see girls drifting between folk; sometimes you know who they are which is even sneakier, and you know who is sitting at home, and I just kind of wanted to vent through a song. Sunrise was the first word in the song and it sounded pretty cool so we went with that as the title, but also I thought sunrise is a nice way of saying 'Wake up mate!'"
