XpoNorth 2017: The music lineup

XpoNorth, the wide-ranging festival of music, screen, broadcast, game development, crafts, textiles, fashion, writing, publishing and design, returns to Inverness this June, and its music lineup has just been announced.

This year's showcase list features a host of our favourite new Scottish bands – among those heading to the Highland capital are Paisley art-pop quartet The Vegan Leather, Edinburgh-based tropical poppers Indigo Velvet, Glasgow outfit The Imagineers, Edinburgh-based songwriter E M I L I E and Glasgow three-piece BooHooHoo. They're joined by Edinburgh indie trio Stillhound, Aberdeen's The Little Kicks, and thunderous Glasgow duo WOMPS. Check out the full line-up below.

Giving a platform to the best emerging acts on Scotland’s music scene has been an integral part of XpoNorth since its inception, says festival director Amanda Millen. "Today, XpoNorth is a wide-reaching conference and showcase which brings together a host of elements under one creative umbrella,” she says. “The music showcasing is the jewel in its crown, which gels people together at the end of two inspiring, full-on days of panels, keynotes and international industry-level networking.”

As well as playing to an attentive audience, a performance at XpoNorth is also an opportunity to forge “creative connections”, says Millen. "There’s a lot of key creative industries influencers who attend XpoNorth and even if they don’t work in the music industry, they might be on the lookout for music for a film or a new video game,” she notes.
