Album title:
The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch
Artist:
Cute Is What We Aim For
Label:
Fueled By Ramen
Is any word more emotionally degrading than 'cute'? Not only does it evoke embarrassing childhood memories of doting aunts and purring grandparents but it's a label that forces you to admit you'll never be sexy. And in today's scenester-led society that's as un-hip as berating the untouchable Arctic Monkeys. So why this American ensemble aspires to such an affected adjective is a puzzling conundrum. But after enduring 'The Same Old Blood Rush…' the answer is painfully clear - cute is all this band will ever be. Brimming with slickly produced pre-pubescent punk-pop like Risqué, it makes Blink 182 seem like nihilists. Christ, The Curse of Curves even draws inspiration from that repulsive Hollywood blockbuster Jerry Maguire. Essentially, this is faux-guitar music for a generation yet to move on from the tweeny-rock of Busted. And much like the word cute, it's something you'll never want to be associated with.
