Johnny Lynch’s first new signings since he transplanted the bulk of the Fence roster to his new Lost Map label, Glasgow trio Tuff Love are already dab hands when it comes to unfussy guitar pop, and proffer promise in spades.
For the first minute of their debut EP, as opener Sweet Discontent eases in gently via softly strummed guitars and low-mixed vocals, they may seem almost too lightweight to make an impact; by the time you realise you're somehow on your 15th listen and counting, however – with the inviting Primitives-pop of Flamingo, the mellow fuzziness of Copper, the breezy flow of Poncho and the unassuming melody of Penguin all swirling around your cranium – they’ll seem almost too good to be true.
Tuff Love play Wickerman Festival's Solus Tent on 25 Jul. The Lost Map showcase rolls through Glasgow Bowlers Bar on 25 May
