CATS Scottish Theatre Awards Shortlist Announced
The shortlist for this year’s Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS) has been announced, with Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum Theatre leading the way with 17 nominations.
Three Lyceum shows – Faith Healer, The Venetian Twins and The Caucasian Chalk Circle – are nominated for the best production award with Untitled Projects’ Slope completing the line-up, while the theatre also picks up two nominations in each of the acting categories.
Sean O'Callaghan and Grant O'Rourke are nominated for their roles in Faith Healer and The Venetian Twins respectively, joined in the best male performance category by Brian Ferguson for his lead role in the Citizens Theatre production of Hamlet, and Keith Fleming for his performance in The Call of the Wild, part of the A Play, A Pie and A Pint series.
In the best female performance category, Meg Fraser is nominated for her role in Woman in Mind at Dundee Rep, and Jenny Hulse is also on the shortlist for her performance in The Voice Thief. Nicola Daley is nominated for the title role in the Lyceum production of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, while Amy Manson gets a nod for her portrayal of Grusha in The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
The full shortlist can be found on the CATS website; the winners of the 2015 awards will be announced at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow, on Sunday 14 June.
