FILM | Scotland Loves Anime Various venues, Scotland. 9-25 Oct, various times, tickets here Japanese animation showcase par excellence – that'd be Scotland Loves Anime, of course – returns for its sixth year, spider-webbing across Glasgow (9-11 Oct), Edinburgh (12-19 Oct), and, for the first time, Aberdeen (24 & 25 Oct), with programme highlights including Annecy Jury Prize-winner Miss Hokusai (pictured), the European premiere of two-part adaptation Attack on Titan, and Empire Corpses just a week after its official opening in Japan. FILM | All Night Horror Madness 10 Grosvenor Cinema, Glasgow. 10 Oct, 11pm, £19.50 (£17.50) here The scare-fest that is All Night Horror Madness returns, marking its 10th screening with the suitably special (read: extra demented) line-up of low budget masterpiece The Evil Dead (pictured), 80s sci-fi/horror The Hidden, gory classic Pieces, an uncut US print of Zombie Flesh Eaters, plus a surprise film. MUSIC | Scottish Alternative Music Awards The Garage, Glasgow. 8 Oct, 6.30pm, £10 (£6) here The SAMAs return for their annual awards bash, again appraising the best of the bunch of alternative Scottish talent – among them SAY award-winner Kathryn Joseph up for Best Live Act, local rockers Catholic Action in the Rock/Alternative category, and BDY_PRTS in the running for Best Electronic award. CLUBS | La Cheetah Club's 6th Birthday: Part 1 La Cheetah Club, Glasgow. 9 Oct, 11pm, £13 here Ripening to the grand old age of six, Glasgow clubbing haven La Cheetah celebrates with not one, but two parties! Part one this Friday sees 'em welcome Detroit house don Omar S (pictured) for a return visit (following his club debut in May), taking control of the decks for a three-hour set, with support from residents Dom D'Sylva and Wardy. ADVERTISEMENT | Whole Foods Market Giffnock, 17 Oct The Whole Foods Market Giffnock celebrates the best of autumn with its first Love Autumn Festival on Saturday 17 October. Hot food stalls include fire roasted chestnuts, corn on the cob, hearty stews, paella, and pumpkin pie, plus hot mulled cider to wash it down. There will also be various market stalls selling local and seasonal produce, alongside pumpkin decorating for the kids and a beer tent with live music in the evening. FILM | Dancing with Maria The Glad Cafe, Glasgow. 14 Oct, 8pm, £5 (£3) here One of the world's largest social justice festivals, Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival returns for its 9th year, with an early highlight of this year's sprawling programme being the Scottish premiere of Dancing with Maria – a documentary on 90-year-old Argentinian dancer Maria Fux, who has spent her life training dancers of all abilities. MUSIC | Limbo The Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh. 10 Oct, 8pm, from £4 here Longstanding Edinburgh gig-in-a-club night Limbo marks the month afore its duo of 8th birthday celebrations (7 and 28 Nov, in case you wanna diary them now) with an October outing in its regular home of The Voodoo Rooms, joined by a headline set from Edinburgh new wavers Dead Boy Robotics (pictured) previewing tracks from their forthcoming LP, with support from Roy's Iron DNA and Miracle Strip. The Black Spring DJs then play you towards bedtime. |

FILM | Jarman Award CCA, Glasgow. 8 Oct, 6.30pm, free (but ticketed) here Your annual chance to swat up on some of the most exciting emerging voices in filmmaking comes around as the films nominated for the Jarman Award tour the UK, alighting at Glasgow's CCA for single screen pieces by each of the shortlisted artists – including Gail Pickering, Bedwyr Williams, and Alia Syed (who'll also be in attendance for a Q&A session).
