Intimate, eclectic and enticing are just some of the adjectives bandied about when consulting popular opinion on one of Dundee's most affectionately regarded Turkish eateries.
Shunning the strip-lights and beige tiles of various, less vibrant imitators, Agacan is ablaze with local art-work, mosaic, and creations from its owner and namesake. Its working moniker is derived from the surname of its owner of over 30 years, Zeki Agacan. Zeki's a big fan of all types of art, and proudly displays his own work along with the work of other local creatives.
Expect platters of freshly prepared, expertly seasoned, tastebud-reviving Turkish delights. The menu hasn't developed an awful lot throughout the 30 years of Zeki's ownershop, but y'know what they say: if that lamb kofta ain't broke, why try to deconstruct/repackage/adapt/marinate/fix it? Also, it's worth mentioning that beers are hella cheap - we're talking a couple of quid for Turkish finest golden nectar.
The place is known to fill up pretty quickly of an eve, so make sure to book a table if you're keen to sit in and admire the art dangling from the walls. That said, takeout facilities are available, so rest assured you won't ever go home empty handed/stomached.
