Beermoth

Beermoth is an off-licence with a twist. This Northern Quarter store stocks only specialist beers — not a can of Stella in sight — brewed locally and nationally, or imported from around the world. It’s heaven for the quintessential beer geek; the staff have a rule that they won’t just stock something for the sake of it — it has to taste good or be unique in some way. You’ll probably find something different on each visit too, as their large stock is ever-changing, and as they deliberately don’t sell their stock online, you’re encouraged to come in and hear the story behind every drink you purchase.

Even if you’re not much of a beer expert, the owners Jeremy and Scott are a knowledgeable pair, always happy to recommend products, and they even give suggestions for food pairings.

Beermoth also has a tasting room in the basement, where every Saturday afternoon you can pop in to taste the latest stock and hear a talk about how it was brewed.

Beermoth was named as a winner in the Best Food Or Drink Shop category in the North in The Skinny Food and Drink Survey 2017 and in The Skinny Food and Drink Survey 2014.
