The Assembly Rooms

Assembly Rooms is truly one of Edinburgh's grand old dames. It was built as a place for high society to gather and be entertained – first opening its doors on 11 January 1787 for the Caledonian Hunt Ball. Over 200 years, and several extensions, later it continues to be a major cultural venue for everything from fashion shows to Edinburgh Fringe Festival touring acts. There are also rooms available to hire throughout the year for a variety of events – from formal receptions and weddings, to art exhibitions.
