Manchester Academy

Sitting smack bang in the centre of University of Manchester campus, the Academy has earned its reputation for a constantly heaving schedule of the latest must-see bands. One of the bigger and more established venues in Manchester, it boasts an incredible history of bands headlining the Academy 1 stage, including David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana and Lady Gaga. Since refurbishing in 2008 its capacity has increased to 2,600, although shows still sell out on a regular basis as the biggest bands of the moment and lots of old favourites pass through the city on tour. The venue constantly has a huge selection of upcoming events, catering for any music taste as the go-to venue for many well known acts that people are often seen queueing all the way up Oxford Road for.
