A stalwart of the comedy scene, Manchester's Frog and Bucket Comedy Club has seen comedy icons from Peter Kay to Caroline Aherne grace its stage since starting life as a small city-centre pub in 1993. Now housed in a bigger venue due to its rising popularity, it continues to draw the biggest names in British comedy, as well as giving a platform for local up and coming talents. The venue, located at the top of Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter, is well loved in particular for being one of the places to see some of the best upcoming comedians on tour. It also holds the weekly Beat The Frog night for brand new comedians — the competition sets out to seek the funniest act around, with previous winners of the yearly competition including Jason Manford and John Bishop. The venue also serves up food to enjoy during your visit, and there's often DJs on after each show. Opening hours vary depending on the event so check our listings for more information.
