Stand in the Square

The Stand's got a pretty solid rep throughout Scotland and Northern England, thanks to its growing string of branches which now stretch from Glasgow down to Newcastle, including Edinburgh on the way. This giant 150 capacity yurt is The Stand's secondary fringe home, after its main main comedy club down in York Place.

Nestled up alongside The Famous Spiegeltent on St Andrew Square, the Stand in the Square enjoys a bit of an old-school festival atmosphere; tents on grassy patches, the smell of sizzling food and the sound of muffled audience cackles. It's an exciting venue for checking out some new comedic talent, along with deeper chats at The Cabaret Of Dangerous Ideas, where you can catch anything from a talk about feminism to a cross examination of the interaction between psuedoscience and dental health research.
