Based in a converted printworks in the city's Southside, The Glad Café openly seeks to provide Glasgow’s answer to Dalston’s Café Oto. Although the predominantly indie and electronic line-up may not provide the endless experimentation that London can, it's hard to ignore the similarities – a café by day, a venue by night, and beyond that a home for all manner of creativity.
Located just opposite Queen's Park, you’ll find a generous selection of freshly prepared mains and snacks, soups, platters and home-baked treats. They’ve also kept things local by sourcing their coffee from the Glasgow-based Dear Green Roasters, a company whose passion and expertise you need only taste in order to appreciate. The open-plan interiors along with the minimal, colorful decoration imbue the place with a welcoming atmosphere – one that works well for a project who ultimately intend to involve the Southside's diverse mixture of musicians, artists, writers and performers, and create a cultural hub outside of the city centre.
