The OVO Hydro

After opening in the September of  2013, The Hydro became one of Scotland’s largest entertainment venues.

Situated on the river Clyde beside veteran live venues The SECC and The Clyde Auditorium, it hosts national and international musicians as well as global entertainment and sporting events.

The Hydro aimed to create a new benchmark for Scotland in what both visitor and performer should expect from an events space – with the oval shape inspired by ancient amphitheatres, designed to guarantee perfect sight lines, comfortable seating and crystal clear acoustics for every audience member.

The seats and staging can be re-configured to accommodate a seated capacity of 12,000 or a standing capacity of 13,000 depending on the demands of the performance. With big names in music and comedy already lined up to perform throughout 2013, sporting events such as Gymnastics and Netball booked for the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and an aim to host over 140 concerts a year, the Hydro is poised to bring a major new arena space to Scotland.
