Originally built in the fifties for Highland distillery companies, and since then often mistaken for Barlinnie prison, The Whisky Bond is one of a number of re-appropriated spaces located in the Speirs Lock area of Glasgow.
The (slightly imposing) red brick building stands tall alongside the canal, and houses not only a multitude of studios, but also a sizeable ground floor gallery. Currently the home of Glasgow Sculpture Studios, you can expect a wide variety of installations and creations from both newly emerging talent and established artists. With an aesthetic squarely rooted in an industrial past, the space commands a particular gravity over visitors, making for a pretty unique viewing experience.
Slightly secluded from the bustle and racket of central Glasgow, yet only a 10 minute walk into town and the subway, The Whisky Bond is an ideal spot for creatives of G-town to unite, collaborate, install and create all manner of splendor.
