Nanakusa

Nanakusa are the seven edible wild herbs of spring eaten in Japan for their health benefits and ancient belief that they remove evil from the body. The restaurant Nanakusa in Glasgow city centre doesn’t claim to remove evil but it does guarantee to serves authentic Japanese food cooked fresh to order. With specially-sourced Japanese ingredients, specialist chefs for sushi and tempura and a dedicated yakitori grill, what you get in Nanakusa is the real deal.

Its neighbouring Asian eateries on Sauchiehall Street are mainly take-aways catering to the post-club crowd, with Nanasuka making a firm statement that their establishment is a proper restaurant.by closing at midnight. Inside it's minimalist with large panels of ever-changing light breaking up the wooden walls and rows of leather cushioned benches. The menu contains a vast array of dishes including rice, soup, noodles, sushi and yakitori and the accompanying pictures help punters navigate through the lingo. We'd suggest Bento – a Japanese set meal – as a good place to start if you want to try as many flavours as possible in one visit (which of course you do, right?).
