Eighth Day Vegetarian Cafe and Shop

This supermarket and cafe was established in 1970 and specialises in vegetarian and vegan products. Located on Oxford Road, Eighth Day is a workers co-operative, and strives to sell products that are sourced as locally as possible. As well as all of their stock being vegetarian and vegan, the store maintains that all of their food is organic, ethical and free from artificial additives where possible, and their cosmetics and medicines are all free from animal testing. They also have a takeaway counter, where you’ll find wraps, pies and rolls, as well as mezze items sourced from Greek Kitchen in Macclesfield. Downstairs, the cafe serves up hearty vegetarian and vegan meals at low prices, including salads, sandwiches, soups, stews and curries. They also sell freshly made smoothies and milkshakes, as well as plenty of cakes and other sweet treats. In the morning you’ll also find a number of breakfast items on their menu, from sausage sandwiches to full English veggie breakfasts.
