Ning

This restaurant based at the top end of the Northern Quarter’s Oldham Street serves up authentic Malaysian food and classic Thai dishes. Since opening in 2006, Ning’s chic setting and high end food has become a favourite for both meals out and takeaways. The restaurant is owned by the award winning author and celebrity chef Norman Musa, and their extensive menu consists of authentic dishes as well as meals created by Musa, all inspired by food made by his mother, including curries, noodles and wok-fried dishes. There are also plenty of vegetarian options and alternatives available, and students can take advantage of their student nights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when you’ll get two courses and a drink for £12.50. The restaurant also doubles up as a cookery school, where you’ll leave a class knowing how to cook four Malaysian dishes - a great alternative choice for team building sessions or a day out with friends. Musa also organises an annual culinary tour of Malaysia for those who want to experience the places that inspire Ning’s menu, and a range of his cooking ingredients are also available for sale in the restaurant.
