The Number Shop

The Number Shop sits in the heart of Edinburgh with the lovely Arthur’s Seat for a view right behind it. Founded by local artist Alistair Grant, shortly after his graduation from Edinburgh College of Art, the venue is a dual-functioning studio and exhibition space for a collective of ten artists who are at the beginning of their artistic careers. The Number Shop aims to support newly-graduated artistic talent from a range of disciplines, seeking to provide artists early in their career with a space to work and to exhibit. Situated right in the heart of Edinburgh, it offers affordable costs and, since 2014, it has hosted various exhibitions by a diverse range of creatives. The Number Shop also endeavors to make connections with other independent local artists throughout Edinburgh, and encourages collaboration and conversation, helped along of course by the fact that it's run by the artists themselves, who currently receive no public funding.
