Underbelly, George Square

In 2015, Underbelly's recognisable purple cow, whom to many signals the start of fringe, upped sticks and made her way down to George Square.

The hub, which is made up in part by Underbelly's smaller venues, is the kind of place you should head toward if you're feeling undecided, at a loose end, or overwhemed by choice. Park yourself under a parasol (or next to one of the handy outdoor heaters it's bloody freezing), take a seat and gather your thoughts.

There's a bar, plenty of hot food, all sorts of shows and buckets of performers milling around, so you're bound to work out what it is you fancy doing before long. Sweet talk a flyerer and you might even get yourself a couple of free tickets to some afternoon comedy or a cabaret preview.
