Future Islands at SxSW – Vireo's Eye (Live at Cheer up Charlie's)
Baltimore synth-pop sensations Future Islands saw their performance on the Letterman show go viral last month, with much fuss made about singer Samuel T. Herring's emotive performance, over-the-top dancing and rather quaint fashion choices.
What the generally mocking banter about his sartorial choices and magnetic stage presence failed to mention was what a vital and engaging live act Future Islands are – for evidence, here's a clip of the band at the recent South by Southwest Festival (SxSW), performing their track Vireo's Eye, from their 2010 album In Evening Air. Witness the crowd going absolutely barmy, as Herring skillfully holds them in the palm of his hand.
"It was late, and we couldn't get a proper audio recording, but we were there and it was awesome so we wanted to share it," say The Skinny's ever capable video team. Subscribe to The Skinny's YouTube channel, where you'll find regular video premieres, and exclusive live sessions.
