Me and My Drummer – Blue Splinter View: Video Premiere
Watch the music video for Blue Splinter View by German electro-pop duo Me and My Drummer.
The track is taken from the forthcoming second album from Me and My Drummer – Charlotte Brandi and Matze Pröllochs – entitled Love Is A Fridge. The new album, out next year, saw the Tübingen duo work alongside The Notwist's long-time producer Olaf Opal.
Describing Blue Splinter View as "a song about spinning around your own axis in space", the band say: "It´s a break-up song. A girl just broke up with her beloved mate, not because they don’t love each other anymore, but because their love has transformed more into an asexual brother/sister relationship and could not keep up with the desires of the two kids."
The video for Blue Splinter View, directed by Berlin filmmaker Søren Schaller, is presented as one continuous take combining performance and a range of animated projections. The band say: "The main goal of the video was to support the emotion and the dynamics of the song.
"As the idea for the one-shot concept came up, we began to develop an animated background that would be used as a projection behind Charlotte on stage. By having a single-take without cuts in mind, everything has to be clearly staged 100% beforehand. The crew of ten people needs to know exactly how the performance and lighting is to be done only to keep the powerful momentum of emotion."
Love is a Fridge by Me and My Drummer is released on 12 Feb 2016, via Sinnbus.
