Randolph's Leap – Not Thinking: Video premiere
Watch the new video for Not Thinking from baroque-pop ensemble Randolph's Leap
The video for Not Thinking, created by Glasgow-based production team Wake Up Advice, sees the eight-piece augmented with pixel art-style animated heads as they perform the track.
Describing Not Thinking, Randolph's Leap vocalist Adam Ross says: "As the title suggests, I'm pretty good at emptying my head of thoughts. I‘m either a latent Buddhist or an idiot.
“We had a lot of fun recording this one, playing live with each band member in a different room of a little farmhouse near Lanark. Most of our recordings in recent years have involved everyone overdubbing their own parts individually so it was nice to make an album that captures a bit more of our energy.
As for the influences on Not Thinking, Ross explains: "Pete is a lifelong devotee of the Banana Splits and I think you can detect their influence in his keyboard lines. They’re a really underrated band. Sure, they didn’t write their own tunes, push the creative envelope or receive the critical acclaim of, say, The Wombles but they had a real passion for what they did, not to mention an effortlessly cool approach to fashion that’s arguably an even bigger influence on Randolph’s Leap.”
Not Thinking is available to download from 6 May; the track is taken from the band's forthcoming album Cowardly Deeds, released on Olive Grove Records on 20 May. Randolph's Leap play an album launch show at Saint Luke's in Glasgow on 20 May; info and tickets can be found here.
