Seven Days Of Idlewild: Roseability - Exclusive live session
Our Seven Days Of Idlewild series continues with a radically reworked acoustic rendition of Roseability from their 2000 breakthrough 100 Broken Windows, which was subsequently reappraised by The Skinny's readers as the greatest Scottish album of the last decade.
"Roseability was a real turning point. We recorded this and Little Discourage together in a week somewhere in the country," says Rod Jones. "Jacobs Studios in Surrey where The Smiths recorded The Queen is Dead," Roddy Woomble recalls. "In many ways they were a big inspiration on that record. Up until that time we'd been really into a lot of noisy underground rock from America. We were known as this punky band, but we had all these ambitions to do something more so like The Smiths or R.E.M."
Videography from Stuart Edwards & Peter Marsden.
The band will return imminently with a new album, Everything Ever Written. Read The Skinny's interview with Idlewild, where they talk about the new album and their earlier records.
