Seven Days Of Idlewild: A Film For The Future - Exclusive live session
The Skinny recently sat in on an acoustic rehearsal with the resurgent Idlewild, who gave us reinterpreted renditions of moments from across their catalogue and brought us up to date with an exclusive offering from their imminent seventh album, Everything Ever Written (available for pre-order here)
Each day at 12 pm until the album's launch (on 16 Feb), we'll be running a track from every era of the band. We begin with a radical reworking of A Film For the Future, the lead single from their 1998 debut Hope Is Important. "That launched our career on a major label, up until that point we'd always been on an independent," frontman Roddy Woomble offers by way of introduction. "I think there were high hopes for that song. It did establish us a wee bit and it was a good song to be known for to play live."
Videography from Stuart Edwards & Peter Marsden.
The band will return imminently with a new album, Everything Ever Written. Read The Skinny's interview with Idlewild, where they talk about the new album and their earlier records.
You can also find out about upcoming Idlewild tour dates in The Skinny's stream of the band's new track Come on Ghost.
