Seven Days Of Idlewild: You held The World In Your Arms - Exclusive live session

Video | 12 Feb 2015

Our Seven Days Of Idlewild series continues today, as this expanded iteration of the group reworks You Held The World In Your Arms, the majestic lead single from third album The Remote Part.

Originally released in 2002, the album saw the band rise to their commercial peak. "We toured with Coldplay around that time and you could see they had real drive and ambition, while we were still indie kids," says Roddy Woomble. "But it's an important experience to go through when you put yourself up against someone in any of the creative arts. You realise 'OK, I can't be that, I'm not that, so I'm just going to concentrate on being myself. It was a sort of revelation, but it was a good one to have. That's why we're still going."

This is the third video in our series of seven with the band – watch it from the start with A Film For The Future here.

Videography from Stuart Edwards & Peter Marsden.

The band will return imminently with a new album, Everything Ever Written. Read The Skinny's interview with Idlewild, where they talk about the new album and their earlier records.

You can also find out about upcoming Idlewild tour dates in The Skinny's stream of the band's new track Come on Ghost.
