Video Diary: United Fruit's South by Southwest journey
We follow Glasgow post-hardcore quartet United Fruit as they journey to this year’s South by Southwest festival, taking in their gigs at Austin's Latitude 30 and Hole in the Wall venues for two very different experiences of the event.
As the band prepare their second LP while staying as in tune with their independant roots as they can, guitarist Stuart Galbraith discusses their ambitions for the future, saying: “You’ve got to believe you’re going to do bigger and better things every time… you’ve got to have that vision or else you’re not going to do it. We're here, so it's kinda worked.”
"It's just another stepping stone," remarks singer/guitarist Iskandar Stewart. "There's this misconception that once a band gets here they've made it. We just want to play wherever we can. Performance is performance, I think that translates wherever you are in the world."
The band also recap some personal highlights from the festival, including sets from Canadian punks Metz and sometime tourmates The Twilight Sad – who performed an acoustic cover of Roky Erickson's ‘I Love the Living You’ for us at the University of Texas. you can read a full account of their experience here, courtesy of bassist Marco Panagopoulos.
