Garage Edinburgh

As the name suggests, this not-for-profit art space is tucked behind Northumberland Street in a triple-garage and back-garden set-up. It's been on the go since 2006 however is officially open just once a year, that being - of course - during Edinburgh's most artistic month of the year; August, and just on the weekends at that. But let that not undermine the importance of this venue - it's often a key venue in the prestigious Edinburgh Art Festival's programme, with UK and international artists being invited to research, develop and use the space the exhibit their geniosity every year. Performances, live art events and site specific works feature throughout the month, encouraging engagement and exchange with the public. The public, at that, also generally being an in-the-know arts crowd, so it's worth keeping your eyes glued to the website (just in August) so nothing passes you by.
