The Grassmarket Centre

The Grassmarket Centre, located on Candlemaker Row, is a venue space run by the Grassmarket Community Project, a social enterprise offering support to people facing social exclusion. The Grassmarket Community Projects offers support to vulnerable people through educational programmes, social enterprise and social integration activities. Currently activities include cookery, gardening, woodwork, art, music and textiles. There’s a community cafe in the Grassmarket Centre, run by volunteers with all proceeds helping to fund the Grassmarket Community Project’s support of Edinburgh’s vulnerable adults. Free meals are served to participants in the project and a drop-in meal service runs on Monday evening. Although focussed on supporting people facing social exclusion, the Grassmarket Project and Community Centre encourages all members of the local community to join in and meet new people.
