King's Theatre Edinburgh

It's always a treat when a theatre as magnificent as King's Theatre in Edinburgh becomes comfy, accessible and modern but retains the vevleteen glamour of its heritage. King's Theatre hosts all sorts of entertainment, from touring troupes to amatuer societies and student theatre. Also worth a mention is the King's Christmas Pantomime, which is quite the institution and revels in festive success year after year. You'll even catch the Singing Kettle if you keep an eye out.

With its fair share of celebrity stop-offs, legends like Jimmy Logan, Maria Callas and Sir Ian McKellen have made their mark at Kings. And, not only does the venue boast having showcased many a famous face onstage, word has it that there's been glamour aplenty backstage too - Sir Sean Connery worked at King's back in the 1950s. It’s now also home to John Byrne’s biggest surviving work in the King’s Dome; a beautiful piece of art encapsulating the words “all the world’s a stage”.
