Once Stirling’s Library, the beautiful Miller Street building has now been granted inner beauty to match its outer shell. As part of a complete overhaul initiated by Glasgow bar maestro’s Ryan Barrie and Jim Ballantyne, The Spiritualist’s daunting haul has been decked out in an art deco style with a modern twist, giving it a Jazz Age sparkle that feels right at home today.

All glass and sleek black textures, it is undeniably once of the most eye-wateringly stylish bars in town. While it has the upmarket feel of an elite champagne bar, the menu leans down from the prices you might expect and serves up a variety of locally-sourced dishes that won’t break the bank.

It’s on the drinks end of things though where the magic really happens. With a gorgeous gantry of some 320 glimmering bottles, the selection of spirits and liqueurs must be just about unrivalled in Glasgow. From local craft gins and ales, from the likes of Rock Rose and Fyne Ales, to exotic treasures like the famous Louis XIII cognac, The Spiritualist’s shelves are a world unto themselves, ripe and ready for exploration.
