O2 Apollo

The O2 Apollo is one of Manchester's most popular live music and stand-up comedy venues. The Grade II listed building has been hosting events since 1938 and accomodates both standing and seated events on an almost nightly basis. A host of well-known names have previously appeared on the stage, with more recent acts including the likes of Nick Cave, Manic Street Preachers and Paul Weller. It's also a venue of choice for big comedy names, with Jimmy Carr regularly stopping off here on tour, while Russell Brand, Sarah Millican and Manchester legend John Cooper Clarke have all brought huge laughs to the Apollo in the past. There's a priority lounge available to O2 customers who want a bit of VIP treatment during an event, and there's also a big upstairs seating area for those who don't fancy standing. Opening hours vary depending on the event, so check our listings for details. [Charlotte Davies]
